I re-stocked my 1955 M98 Swede. Much easier then the 1st rifle!! Stock is finished w/ BLO and gun wax. It is a Boyds I got on sale, $59.00.

That is beautiful. Is that solid wood or a laminate?

I didn't know they used nutmeg wood. Hell I didn't know nutmeg came from a tree.
When you shoot it and it gets hot, does it smell like pumpkin pie? :D

Very nice stock and nicely done. I'm a bit curious, what is the scope I see on the rifle ?

The scope is an old Simmons 3-9x32mm that came on my Savage 110 7mm Rem Mag when I bought it years ago. The mount is a Swedish commercial short side rail, original to the rifle.

Thanks for the info and the closer look, The mount looks very interesting, I enjoy looking at older scopes and mounting systems. Again, a very good looking rifle and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Nutmeg is an evergreen that grows in the spice islands and a few other places around the world. It is special because you get Nutmeg and mace from one tree. It is the only tropical tree that produces 2 spices. Nutmeg is from the nut, mace is from the ground up outter covering of the nut. It takes 7 to 9 years before the tree produces the nut and at 20 years it reaches full production.

JP; Was it a drop in or did you have to do some inletting? The nutmeg color looks good. I used it on my wifes 17M2. I had to do a little fitting on hers and finished with many coats of tung oil. I went unfinished because I had to cut the stock down to fit her.

I had to inlet a little. The scope mount was the most. The dremel works wonders. I only put 2 coats of BLO on it. The gun wax is a breeze and works very well.

Very nice. I got my 98 in a Boyds thumbhole target/varminter stock. Have had it for about three years and just the other day I noticed to stock was getting tight on the barrel. Some 440 grit took care of it in less than 5 min.
