    Only because:

It will with a conventionally rifled barrel installed.

I hunt hogs regularly with a .45, but it aint the acp, at least a 260 grain cast or JHP cause we got some big pigs down here. 45 colt, single action revolver with some big boy loads, the acp is a manstopper but not meant for hogs.

Are you saying the original Colt 255 grain black powder load is inadequate for hogs?

aint ever messed with black powder rifles or pistols, but cant see how they could handle a devastating load. just my opinon, maybe they can, but I know I am around big pigs 365 days a year in the pastures and I wont go out after a wounded pig with less than a .41 mag, but I prefer a .44 mag or .45 colt (long colt) with heavy loads. I do see hogs every day, kill them with anything from a .17hmr to a .308, but most auto pistols aint meant for the job.

Your criteria rules this one out also:

.45 Colt 255 Hard Cast Keith Standard Pressure 975fps.

    Well:

The Double Tap round in question is a Factory Round.

This one is good for deer!

The original .45 Colt single action army revolver load of 250 grains of lead over 40 grains of FFg pushed nearly 1,000fps out of the 7 1/2" barrel!
Enough to take any deer or hog woodland ranges.

Buffalo Bore also sells a 255g hardcast for the 45acp it will go through both shoulders of a black bear. There was a guy in the new a while back that killed a Grizzly with his 45acp

    Hog hunting gun

I like my S&W M29 44 mag loaded with either a 245 gr. hard cast bullet over 22 gns of 2400 powder as per Elmer Keith's favorite 44 load. this load will take down any hog, Deer, or even a Bear if the need be.

    However:

This discussion is about the .45ACP with loads equal to the original 45 Long Colt 40 grain black powder load. Even Elmer Keith, in the pre-44 magnum era said if he were limited to one factory round for handguns it would be the .45 Colt blackpowder round. Certainly any equivalent load has the power to penetrate completely through a horse as was the calvary requirement of the time.

Sounds like a great round, but I would be concerned about feeding problems. My Kimber don't like flat noses.
