Anyone do this? Ream out a 25-06 to make it a 257 Weatherby? I did it on one rifle, but I am wondering if I should have just bought a new 257 barrel? What say?

Bolt face would have to be modified. The Weatherby case has a larger base diameter. The .25-06 is a fine cartridge. With the right bullet, acceptable for elk size game.

During the last ammo "crisis", 25-06 was more available on WallyWorld shelves than the 257 W.

What is the advantage of the 257 over the 25-06?

with the same bullet weights, my data books show anywhere from 200 to 400 fps faster from the 257 Weatherby over the 25-06.

    kind of like a 25-06 on steroids!:D

....and I don't buy ammo from Walmart.....Never had a problem getting 257 Weatherby ammo, just send the money...Cabelas has always had my ammo...:D...and the difference of a 257 over a 25-06 is pure speed...and speed kills.......fast!
