Just out of curiosity: what was .22LR going for, pre-panic? I have never owned a .22 but might consider picking one up and was wondering about the ammo. I know that all ammo has become scarce and gone up considerably in price and I have an idea of how much the 9mm and .380 stuff has risen. I just don't know how cheap and readily available .22lr was before. I frequent GunBot to see what certain calibers are going for and noticed that the cheapest .22, right now, is about .13/.14 a round. What was it like before and what is everyone paying now?

    Thanks.

Box of 555 Winchesters for about $25. Box of 100 run of the mill plinking rounds for about $6. Now? Same box of 555 maybe $40 -$60. During the nutzo period I saw it as high as $90. Finding it is priority one; pricing it is next.

4 to 7 cents per round was most 22 ammo

Thanks gang. I guess I'll do like I've been doing with the .380 and 9mm. Keep my eyes open for bargains.

I have used this one several times and I really like it. When I went there today they had 22lr for .08 so I bought some.

    Thanks!

The Lawton Academy store often has .22 ammo at pre-panic prices. i recently bought a 500 round box of Winchester Expert for $19.99 plus tax.

Winchester 525 packs right now are about $24 at Cabela's when they have them in stock. Federal bulk packs were right around $21 this time last year.

Same box before the crisis was about $30 to $35 depending on the store. Rough wag!

The range I go to has a **** ton of 22 LR ammo probably 100,000 rounds it's $60 a box of 500 before the crisis was about 30 but it's match grade ammo i'm just waiting a couple months so they drop the price back to 30

In the middle of the silliness,....Natchez had the Federal Auto match at 18.99 per 325 Brick. Right you you can't find it for anything under 44.95...I'm glad I bought 3 boxes of it then...

I miss the 550 bulk boxes for 15 bucks. I had someone price me one of those 333 bulk packs for 70 bucks last weekend :(
Thankfully I still have about 10 boxes from the before times ;)

I failed to stock up on 22 before the panic, I bought one Federal 525 round brick late last summer, still over half full because I refuse to pay more than 5 cents a round for bulk 22.

OP, probably a more relevant question to ask yourself is "Can I afford to shoot at today's price, and can I live with spotty availability?" What it was before is now irrelevant. (But it was cheap, and 10,000 rounds could be had on any given day.)
