    A quick couple questions.

    Are silencers legal in Ohio?

Can one be put on my 22-250 rifle?

    Thank you

The simple answer is yes and yes!

A Class 3 dealer will register you to own a suppressor and charge the mandatory Federal tax of $200 when you purchase your suppressor. There are other costs as well: Processing, the suppressor itself, shipping, fitting - these are all detailed by the dealer. It takes about two to six months to get the approval back, usually on the lower end, and then you will be able to pick up your suppressor from the dealer. You simply carry your copy of your approval form any time you have your suppressor in public so you can show it to Law Enforcement or Rangers if requested.

A suppressor can be made for almost any caliber. Red Jacket made a suppressor for a 12ga shotgun, and there are suppressors for .50 sniper rifles, so a .22-250 should not be a problem. You might want to check with a company like Ohio Ordnance Works as they will make a suppressor for just about any caliber or situation.

Papa, the closest class III dealer I could find to you is listed below. I have no association with them, just trying to help out. :)

Not if you have to buy them for all of the animals, neighbors, rangers, LEOs, other hunters and then think of the cost of the gas to distribute them, along with the hassle of trying to put ear plugs in a deer or a bear's ears...and that's every time you go shooting! No, I disagree...$400-600 for a suppressor is much cheaper in the long run! :D

lol, yeah ear plugs work fine for me, but neighbors were kinda one reason I was wanting a silencer. The other reason is I think they are cool ;)Oh yeah and if ya ever shoot this 22-250 when your in between two buildings and forget your hearing protection..............danggggg that hurts the ear drums for a lil bit. This thing is freaking loud . Not a good thing to shoot from the cab of the truck either(not that I'd ever ever do that......:rolleyes:.....)
