WHat would be the best bullet size for the most knock down power inside 100yds for hogs.

Remember, barrel twist rate dictates what bullet weights can be used. Most 22-250s are 1/12. You ay find a load that will stabilize a bullet as heavy as 63 or 64 grains. Twist is part of the stabilization issue. Velocity is the other. Most 1/12 .223 barrels will not shoot bullets that heavy. Push the bullet 200-300 fps faster it will stabilize better

I would say go up in caliber vs going up in bullet weight in a 22 caliber. Though if you are dead set on using a 22-250 Nosler Partition 60gr would be my go to. They were a premium hunting bullet before there was a premium hunting bullet category. The other bullet I would look at would be a Swift Scirocco II 62gr. You will need to make sure they will stabilize in your gun. The Swifts run about $52 per 100.

I had a rem heavy barrel and it pushed some 40 grain nosler up into the 4000+ fps and it would disintegrate any woodchuck under 300yards. I'll post the recipe tonight it was straight out of the nosler book. Laser accurate also. Should not have sold that gun.

I'm assuming hogs as in pigs.

Your right on the edge of being too light /not heavy enough for pigs.

I'd be using a 60gn Woodleigh, Barnes, Swift something that will hold together well enough to bust through mud and gristle especially around the fighting pads on the shoulders of most of the boars.

The 22/250 will do the job but bullet placement is critical.
