Tom Dempsey, placekicker for the Saints as well as several other NFL teams of Covid19 as well as other underlying conditions. Dempsey is most widely known for kicking a 63-yard field goal as time expired to give the Saints a 19–17 win over the Detroit Lions on November 8, 1970 at the time an NFL record that stood till tied in 1998 by Jason Elam. Dempsey was born without toes on his right foot and no fingers on his right hand. He wore a modified shoe with a flattened and enlarged toe surface. He was 73.

Oh, NO! I saw him quite often in the ‘70’s at The Earl of Old Town in Chicago. Along with Leo Kottke, Vassar Clemons, Steve Goodman, Bonnie Koloc, Jim Post. Such happy go lucky days. I love folk music.

Edward “Whitey” Feightner, who as a boy walked off a farm in Elida during World War II and became a man in the South Pacific, died Wednesday in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 100.

The 1937 Elida High School and Findlay College graduate was an ace fighter pilot. By the war’s end, he had nine confirmed kills — including three Japanese Zeros in one day during a dogfight over Taiwan — and four probables. He would later become a rear admiral in the Navy.
