Post stories and pictures of some of your 2012 kills.
Sorry I don't have pictures. My most recent bird hunt I got one pheasant and that was the only one we saw, not very impressive.
Better than work or school. I've never went pheasant hunting.
2 does but I don't have any good pictures...unless you want to see the Hamburger
Took my 10 year old son, and 12 year old daughter out Oct. 6 & 7 for the youth deer hunt.
We seen 5 come through on Saturday evening, including a 12 point. Told my son to take him if he could get the shot, he didn't. He turned and looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "I'm sorry I was shaking to bad to shoot". Felt bad for him. Told him its all good happens to just about everyone.
Same spot the next morning a doe crossed from the corn field into the woods without stopping. Five minutes later another doe was crossing and stopped 40 yards away and was watching us, he pulled up and aimed. I was standing behind and told him when he was ready to go ahead and take her. The whole time I'm watching him thinking there's no way he's going to shoot, he was shaking almost as bad as the night before with the buck. He shot, she never took another step!

Later that evening took them both out to the same spot, another doe crossed and stopped. Being he had his doe tag filled we were just watching her waiting for my daughter to shoot who was standing 20 yards down from us. She was supposed to be watching the funnels between the the two bean fields and the willow thicket. I looked down to see what she was doing, there she was sitting in the tall grass texting and not paying attention! Didn't see another deer, she was bummed a little, but in good spirits. She was giving her brother crap and told him "you may have gotten the first deer, but I'll get the first buck!"
Not much of a story with this one: Sitting in the truck drinking coffee waiting to see which way the wind was going to blow. A young fat doe walked into the field where I was parked. I had about a 10 yard stalk to get a real good shot. Shot the doe in the neck at about 45 yards with a 12 gauge slug fired from a Mossberg 500 with a rifled slug barrel.
Not a kill yet but took this pic last night on my video camera biggest 6 pt I have ever seen . Sorry for the crappy pic ,lots of zoom he was about 400 yards away
Since bow season opened in Georgia on September 8, I've been on twenty hunting sets and have yet to see a deer.
So, the only thing I've killed is about 50 hours...
It'll get better!
Couple others we got on video last night
And the tables are turned...
Hopefully I get a couple hogs tomorrow.I'll be heading to my friends ranch around 0500.
I would like to get a doe with the crossbow, but the weather is still too warm, and they have been staying nocturnal.
I'm hoping to introduce at least one feral pig to my 22 mag tomorrow morning. If so ill be eatin good for awhile longer. Will post pics if I get one(or many )
What kind of hog hunting setup you got marlinman?
besides a few squrriels, i have to wait for november for my deer tag to be filled(hopefully)
Define set up. Meaning rifle? Stand? Blind?
Hunting in Florida, got these two with one shot. The day was very cold and windy and the hogs were tucked in real heavy cover inside the hammocks so we had to go in for them.
Used a 300 blackout with Atlanta Arms 125 gr Nosler ballistic from about 45 yards.
Florida again, hunting from a stand. My partner and I agreed to stop hunting at 7:15 that evening. At 7:13 after not seeing anything I put some stuff in my backpack and tied the drop rope to my rifle. I made one more scan around the area and saw two boars standing about 50 yards away, directly in front of me. I figured if I moved that they would bolt. I raised my rifle still tied to the rope and neither one made a move so I took the largest one on the left.
It let out a squeal and took off east into some heavy cover and then went north. I found it about 50 yards north of my stand.
Taken with a 300 blackout using Barnes 110 gr. black tips.
I am working tomorrow until noon. Then my son and I will hook the camper up to the truck and head for the woods. We both have cow elk tags. We will have a great weekend even if we dont see an elk. I may just end up posting picks of my son with the 30-30.
Pheasant hunting today
I got 2 does yesterday
