i just got the green light from the website admin leader (notdku) that its ok to offer my private skeet and trap range for you all to come and have a get together. i enjoy bringing cyber posters together to share something in common. shooting! being retired military, i have a lot of free time to devote to my passion, shotguns and people. i enjoy it so much, that i bought this abandoned range a few years ago, just to have people come out and learn to shoot. it also gives the locals something to do after those long hard days on the farm. i live in va.. so i only visit up to mo. twice a year. so i'd like to offer you all a chance to come meet me at my place for a great little getaway which i promise will be worth your time.
i use to shoot on the navy shooting team, rifle, pistol, and shotgun. i was on the world champion navy skeet team that won gold in san antonio back in the 90's. i know the game.
to make your visit to the ftf meet worth the trip, im offering free instruction and coaching to all that sign up.
i prefer it to be 'bring your own shotgun and ammo,' but if you dont have either, i will ensure some will be here for you to borrow. and too, others will surely bring some to loan as well.
i will open my clubhouse for free as well.
it has a kitchen, so anyone is welcome to use it to cook. i cant cook for you guys....i'll be teaching on the range, so if you want to bbq or eat grub, bring your own food and cook it yourselves.
the range parking lot is big enough for campers. i dont have sewage, but i do have electricity and water hookups. bring your extention cords and hoses. so if you want to bring a camper to save on motels, feel free.
i dont have a bbq grill, so someone will need to bring one.
the clubhouse is knotty pine, has running water, toilet, heat and ac. the previous owner built it for his wife. no joke. she was a good shot, so he built it for her to practice. he did a good job. youll enjoy it.
i will post up more info, but i just wanted to get this posted up so notdku can stick it at top...so we can add our updates and messages as we firm it all up.
i want to thank ftf for allowing this. you will all benefit from it, and so will ftf. so go out there and bring in some new members to ftf and get them to come to this meet!
in post 7, i will discuss tickets and how we will need to order targets and the stuff....to make this happen.

pm notdku right now and thank him for this!

here we go!!!

im putting this up here, so we can find it easier.

I can supply 3 boxes of pigeons ski. They might be a little old but I don't think any of em are broke, or very few are. I can probably supply a flat or two of spare shells. All were free to us and will be put to good use on this.

Bob, how many clay pigeons would you recommend for each person?

ok, let me begin by saying, this is a skeet range only. i have no facility for pistol or rifle. the joining fields are open with cows and farmers. no backstops, so im sorry, its gotta be shotguns only.
on feb 1, i will be ordering targets. i order them by the pallet. you can all bring your own targets and fling them off to the side if you want, but if it goes in my machines, its going to have to be mine. fair? believe it or not there are 5 different grades of targets. my machines are old and finicky and like certain brands and grade.
admin and i, along with a few others agreed that a meet of this nature normally would run in the thousands and that it would be fair to pitch in to help the unavoidable costs to my facility. if we could all pop in just a 50 spot, that would cover all the targets anyone will need. it will also buy a trophy for the winner, coffee, etc...
with that, i will break even. running 5 220v trap machines isnt cheap. and God forbid one breaks, i'll be out a few hundred bucks. so a 50 spot would be a nice way to say thanks bob for all the free stuff. fair enough?
anyone who wants to donate ammo to someone else is fine. loan shotguns..fine too. anyone want to forget a few cases of targets they brought when they leave....sure!
i will have ammo on site for anyone wanting reloads or factory ammo as well.
i will try to get 2 helpers to help me run the range. if not, 2 will be on site. thats me and one other. i will be running around like a chicken with his head cut off, i can tell you that. been there....done that, but i like it! so the simpler and structured the meet can be, the better i can run it. i will have a tip jar in the club for my helper too. be kind to him because he will be loading machines, pulling, scoring, greeting, and manning the club for all of you on his own time....while i teach you.
i will post the suggested events and times next.
meets like this are normally fun and relaxing for the guests, but require military precision of the staff.
so go easy on me!

the actual match will require 150 targets per shooter. 6-7 boxes of ammo. bring 10, so you guys can shoot later on, on your own after the match.
i dont know how strong you guys are, but 10 boxes is a good days shooting. last meet i had, the guys were worn out by 8.
if youre young, fine, but if youre older and never did this, and show up with a mossberg 500, youll be dead by nightfall or your arm will fall off!
the 50 spot will cover enough targets for 10 games 250 targets.

lol, I agree about the stickers thing. For the most part, I'd be lost as hell since I know most of you by your username.

Bobski, $50 sounds like a deal for that much fun. When's the deadline for that?

I'd probably be able to pick you out pretty easily. There are a few people I wouldn't need a nametag to identify, but a nametag makes it easier to identify everyone else. :D
