Hey guys,

I was given a 30-30 when I was about 15 and never really cared that much about it. Now, years later I'm getting into firearms and picked up my old 30-30 from my dad durring xmas. It's a 1969 Glenfield model 60 (department store version of the Marlin 336). I have a nice soft case that fits it well that looks to be from the 1970's it's also got a scope rail but no scope. I'd like to get a scope for it but keep it true to the time period...

So, my question is: what were some popular department store scopes from the 1970's? How much would one cost today? And where could someone find one?

Thanks guys!

Redfield is the first one that comes to mind.
you can find them on ebay or at gun shows or at sporting goods stores for the modern ones, redfield is still a popular scope with the older guys and is still made. As far as cost i would think you could pick a older one up for little or nothing

WEAVER was the main one and they were decent. We all had less money back then and everything worked with less expensive equipment. Life was good.
Not sure if the original poster or any other of the posters will even see this. Post is over 2 years old. Just saying that the dates of the posts are atop left of the post border....
