So I just got back from a local gun show. I meet an old veteran who was selling some old colts

    1. Was 1915 in great condition (one owner -him). He wanted $3750. Serial number 111xxx. I think that was too much so I started to look at no 2

    2. 1913 in ok condition serial no 34xxx. He wanted $2600

    3. Last but not least another guy had 74 colt .357 mag python for $1250. I almost bought it but wanted to do some research

The old veteran also had a union switch and signal that he wasn't selling (prob would if I really wanted) he was only selling these to do some work on the house. Said he had 41 colt blued for 5k and 7 other old colts various years all less than 1950

Anyway which would you choose and why if you had the $$ to buy any of the above

    Thanks

Tough choice, there are many websites you can use to gauge gun value, like gunb broker. Also just curious, how old is he? Was the one made in 1915? And if so how is he the original owner? I guess it is possible, but that was what 98 years ago? And he would have to have been of some age to get a hold of one. Even if he was ten when he bought it, do the math. :D

The 1915 was in his family as was most of his guns but the 1913 he bought 10 or so years ago

Python sounds like a fair deal...a lot depends on condition. Check the web, you only see pretty worn ones for much less. Many will have holster wear...not a big deal for shooting, but big for investors/collectors.

I'd get one of those 1911's if I had that kind of money laying around. All I need is good opportunity to grab my grandfather's Colt, with a serial in the 500's.

Some are into collecting. My grandfather's old Colt was built in 1912, of the second shipment to leave the factory. I was supposed to inherit it, but my dad snagged it. If I ever have the chance, I may just stoop below the law and get it back.
