Just to stir the pot this morning... Which platform do you have more of in your collection? 1911s or Glocks?

If you don't own either, which are you more likely to buy?

Or, which do you simply like more?

Whatever your reasoning might be, is fine! Defensive purposes, general shootability, ease of maintenance, track record, aesthetics, it doesn't matter!

Hat-tip to MisterMcCool for giving me the idea for the poll:

My vote is 1911. I don't yet own one. I also don't own a Glock, but I have shot a few.

    I voted 1911 because I don't like Glock. PERIOD!

1911 all the way. It's a proven platform, I like Glocks, but I prefer the 1911. They can both be modified easily with a vast selection of parts.i love my 70Series Combat Commander.

If you go by owning then it would be 1911, but I love shooting both!! You should have a vote for both too!!!:(

i own both i like both, but if it came down to choosing only one i would choose my g19 because of capacity, reliability ease of use and avalibilty of the 9mm.

I love my Colt 1911 A1 Govt. Model.
Years ago shot all the Glock models except the 18.
    Like Glocks,
    almost bought the model 21.
    But,
Glocks Just do not feel right in my hand.
    And that's what matters.

I have 1~1911(gold cup), and 5 Glocks. I prefer the stock parts of the Glock over a stock 1911. Now my friend has a 1911 that he said he put about $3,000 dollars into it, I've shot it a few times. Now I would prefer his 1911 over a stock Glock. But unless my budget allows me to put that kind of money into one gun~I'm staying with glock.

call me old-fashioned, but i went with the 1911 because i wasshooting them before the Glock was around. but the Glock has it's good points and bad points just like any other firearm. i would probably buy a 1911 over a Glock, but if the right Glock came along at the right price and time, then i would buy one.

currently i own three 1911's, but no Glocks.

I have one of each. For defensive purposes I prefer the Glock, the only reason for this is my proficiency with the platform.

I prefer the 1911 for range time.

Because i have a place for both, i didnt vote.

Now I guess if I could only own one, it would be the Glock for the reasons above... Thankfully I don't have that problem.:D

I love 1911's as they are the american gun with alot of history. Nothing feel as good or points as natural as a 1911 imho. However I have owned several 1911's and they need broken in and some very finicky with ammo. Get past these issues and you got yourself one hell of a gun
