Hey folks. I have a set of really nice AFS slim grips that I'd like to mount on my 1911, but the holes in the grips are too large. Is there such a thing as grip screws with oversized heads or bushings of some type that can work?

I didn't find anything at Midway or Brownell's, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're not out there.

    Thanks.

You could try small o-rings. Most hardware store should have them. Another thing is use heat shrink on the bushings.

Man, I've been round and round with grip screws and bushings for slim grips, Don, but if I were you, I'd get in touch with the manufacturers of the grips themselves and tell them you've tried Midway and Brownells and all the big boys.....now just what do THEY suggest?

Okay. Apparently Les Baer grip screws are oversized. I'm going to see if I can pick up a set.

The Les Baer Thunder Ranch slim grip screws may work. They're stainless and slotted. Assuming they work, I'll paint them black with the Aluma Hyde that I've got coming. I dislike slotted screws and prefer hex head, but beggars can't be choosers.

The grip screw heads on my LB TRS are .31" in diameter.

The Les Baer thin grip screws arrived today. They fit perfectly. Since they're stainless, I painted them with the matte black Aluma Hyde II while I was spraying the Eddystone today. I'll give them a few days to set up well before installing the grips.
