Wit the price of 1911-22's being what they are it's really not all that cost effective to get a conversion kit to me. I got one of the Chippia 1911-22's a while back and it's been a pretty good shooter.
..Just a thought anyway. I got mine for just under 300 bucks.:)

I've just not seen a whole lot out of the kits that made me really want to get one. I've tried a few that other people had and they didn't work all that well. and you pay for half a gun. There's a few companies making 1911 like 22's these days. and for the price they are getting it just seemed to be a no brainier to me.

I have a .22 conversion kit for my Kimber and I think its awesome. I got mine used for $150 and it works great so I would say used is the way to go but they are right a 1911 in .22 would be a better buy.

Buy a 2nd gun. If you are determined to get a 1911, I recommend the Colt version. Not a big fan of the GSG/Sig/Chiappa versions, although some have had good experiences with them. If you're open to other platforms, Ruger and Browning target pistols offer outstanding quality/value.

I have both, the GSG/ATI and the Colt/UMAREX....go with the Colt!
