I LOVE my 1858 reproduction! Mine doesn't have the fancy grips, though. I like the removable cylinder; i load on a press.
It can be a lot of fun, but requires some supplies and a bit of extra cleaning. You will need caps, powder, wads, projectiles (lead round ball for me), a powder measure, and the instruction manual. You will need a nipple wrench for the cleaning-make sure it works before you need it.
I advise you to lay out the load components for the cylinder before you start; it is hard to remember which hole was first when they are in a circle. My nephew managed to load two lead ball projectiles in two chambers of his cylinder before he realized something was wrong. I LOL'd at him. Those youtube videos on loading and cleaning will be of value to you.
Is yours made by Pietta?

You will find that empty .38 special cases will hold ABOUT how much powder you will need per chamber on the .44 caliber model, APPROXIMATELY so check it against a powder measure. You want to buy caps locally to avoid a large surcharge for shipping explosives.
