I have recently bought a few 15 rnd clips, from Midwesthunters.com, for my 1911. Lots of problems. Every 3 or so rnds it would either jam, or the slide would lock halfway back, or a rnd would get stuck vertically sticking out of the ejection port. And once it double fed but luckily it jammed then too so I caught it before firing. I've fired with the same ammo many different times with the 10 and 7 rnd mags that I have, with no problems. I'm thinking either the spring is too week or the mag is to tight because when I loaded a few rnds into the mag, some of the brass got shaved off.

I was just wondering if anyone else was having these troubles with the 15 rnd mag. And what would be a good way to fix it or should I just scrap the mags.

Well, I wouldn't scrap them but sure wouldn't depend on them - I've used a few 10rd mags that were dependable but never a 15rd mag-
Besides- We all know the 1911 was never intended to hold more than 7 in the mag

As a good fix, I would trade everything and get a Browning Hi-Power if I wanted to go hi-cap.

Hmm,,,interesting,,,I saw that some local yokel was selling 15 rd mags on the classifieds recently, I was tempted to jump on that, maybe I'm glad that I didnt. Chip McCormick sells some real good 10 rounders, and that gives you 11 to work with. If I havent solved the problem with eleven shots of .45, then it probably isnt going to get solved with a pistol and I'm going to go to plan B.

Thats normal for the single stack 15 rounders. Definately range use only there just isnt enough spring tension in a single column mag to push that much weight. If you do put a strong enough spring it bends the feed lips when loaded.

If you want a working hi-cap 1911 get a para ordanance. My choice was to go xdm 45 13+1 and it works. 1911s work best as 7 round mags.

I don't see the point in High cap mags. There cool and everything but there hard to conceal and NEVER would I use a gun with a high cap mag to defend my life. guns are more reliable when used with regular capacity Mags my 1911 Came with an eight round mag and right away I went out and bought 3 seven round mags. And it's not about the amount of bullets it's about the accuracy of the shot. But if you just like blowin stuff to pieces and just use them for fun sure get a few hard to find ones that won't give you issues though
