I am going to make my first ammo purchase from freedommunitions, for range...FMJ. Price really isn't that different between the 115 and 124, about $20 for 500 and that's new ammo, not reload and about $10 difference for reload.

My self-defense ammo is PDX1 124 +p and 147. I want to start stocking up on ammo. I have never purchased from them before.

If your carry ammo is 124 JHP, then buy 124 FMJ for practice.

The cartridge, as far as I know, was designed for 121-125gn bullets. I get best accuracy with 124gn JHPs.

It was designed for 115 to 125g

But 90 to 147 have all been used with complete satisfaction.

I've loaded 90grfmj to 147grJHP's. I shoot 115..124grfmj, but handload 147gr hp and 135gr protected point HP, the old federal Hydrashock. Speer made the bullets. When Federal discontinued the protected point(looks like fmj) I bought hundreds at 9.00 per hundred. 124gr cast lead is always a good option for practice.

I have found a slight accuracy advantage using the 124 grain over the 115 grain, however the 115 grain is excellent for a self defense load. I would not recommend the 147 grain for self defense as over-penetration is a problem.
