    Can a 10mm Auto match the performance of the .41 Magnum in a pistol ?................

    High performance 10mm loads can match some 41 Mag loads

    Winchester Silvertip;
    10mm 175 gr @ 1290
    .41 Mag 175 gr @ 1250

    The .41 is capable of much higher numbers though

    Federal;
    .41 Mag 210 gr @ 1230
    180 gr @1340

    I load a 170 gr Sierra that leaves a 6" bbl @ nearly 1600. THAT is screaming! No 10mm can touch that. The latest data shows the .41 capable of 1887 fps with that 170 gr bullet. OMG!

    Most of the .41 mag published velocities were shot with longer barrels, 6" to 8 3/8". Out of equal barrel lengths,4", they are much closer to being equal. The .41 mag has more powder capacity though, so would always have the edge, even with the loss from the barrel /cylinder gap. Many stores will not have either in stock, although the 10mm might be a bit easier to find. The 10mm has more of a useful niche, IMO, as a more powerful alternative for an auto pistol, and has made a bit of a comeback. As far as revolvers, most people who want more than a .357 just choose a .44 mag ( or bigger, like a .45 Casull, .460 S&W or .475Ruger). There are a few die hard fans of the .41 Mag., but the .44 Mag is way more popular. Not too many guns chambered for .41 these days, and bullet/load selection for the .44 is way better.

    I am a big 10mm fan.
    The only reason I own a 41 mag is I cant find a lever action in 10mm :)

    Remember the Ruger .44 Carbine?
    Wouldn't that be nice in 10mm?

    Yeah I seen this being argued on another Forum, I just don`t think that the 10mm auto can ever match up to the .41 magnum !...............

    The .41 Mag. remains in the chamber during the entire firing cycle. The semi-auto cartridge case will have an unsupported case head during the "Dwell" of the action. For this reason the revolver will stand higher pressures.:)

    Clearly, the power level award goes to the 41 mag. The 10mm takes the prize for capacity, obviously.

    If it's a glock. Lol. I love the 10mm. Perfect hunting pistol. Will drop a deer where he stands and 50 yards
