I’m wanting to start a new build using a 10 or 10.5 barrel. What kind of accuracy is everyone getting running a barrel around this length? Please include what barrel.

Barrel length has nothing to do with inherent accuracy.

I guess I should have chosen different words. I’m looking for how much drop and the effects of the reduced velocity. I will be running basically whatever ammo I can find at a decent price. The gun will be built for reliability and longevity. It’s basically a shtf gun for the wife. So I want to shave some weight without sacrificing reliability. As long as I can get around 2 moa at about 300 yards I’ll be happy.

10.5 is good to go. Any shorter is when velocity really drops. I think avg velocity loass between 10" and 16" is around 200-225 FPS.

accuracy is not dependent upon length alone. while you would sacrifice some velocity from going to a 10" barrel vs. a 16" barrel, and at longer distances where the velocity might factor into accuracy, then yes, it would lose a small measure of accuracy at longer distances than a 16" barrel of the same quality. but if the barrel is accurate,, then you could compensate for that with the sights, or optics. buy a quality barrel and i think you would be good to go.

My 7.5" barrel pushes my 62 grain reloads to 2050 fps or a little better. From a rest it will do about a minute and a half, which I don't think is too bad since it has a 3 MOA dot on it. Offhand it is about 3 1/2 minutes.
