So I just picked up a 10/22 takedown and need some advice on optics. Looking to shoot out to 100 or 200 yards if possible. Can I get some inexpensive suggestions please.

Simmons .22 scope. Less than $50 bucks and it works.

I read some reviews on one of their scopes on amazon and some people had issues. I'm not even sure if a scope is what I want. Red dot or reflex maybe? ?? I don't know whats best at 100-200 yds

Red dot and reflex sights are generally used for fast, short distance sighting. IMO 200 yards is extreme range for a .22 and would normally be a job for a heavy, bolt-action target rifle or an extensively modified 10/22. Not that you can't have fun with long range plinking at relatively large targets but chances are unless you are already an excellent shot you are liable to miss as often as hit the target. ;)

If you are serious about shooting at that range you probably want at least a 4.5-14x40 AO scope. A good scope in that range is likely to cost as much, or more, than the 10/22 TD did to start with.

Ok thanks for the advice. I'm fairly new to shooting and while I do own an ar15 I was just looking to do some plinking to save money on ammo. I will look into a chrap scope.

check out the BSA line... relatively low cost and decent optics, although rather large in size. best thing is they offer several P4 or MilDot reticals, and some that have on the fly wind/drop dials (think Sniper movies), that will allow you to calculate hold over based on distance once you have it zeroed in.

+1 a decent scope that gets the job done at a budget price.
