There's a shooter grade Rock Island '03 available. It's pretty beat, but it could be an interesting project. However, I don't know if the receiver has the single or double heat treatment. I don't want, nor can I afford a wall hanger.

Would one of you knowledgeable gentlemen enlighten me please? The serial number is 64,445. Thanks.

    Per the CMP:

To solve this problem, the Ordnance Department commenced double heat treatment of receivers and bolts. This was commenced at Springfield Armory at approximately serial number 800,000, and at Rock Island Arsenal at exactly serial number 285,507. All Springfields made after this change are commonly called “high number” rifles. Those Springfields made before this change are commonly called “low-number” rifles.

    Thanks Scott. I guess I'll pass. I can't use a wall hanger.
