First Time Buying a Handgun Questions.

Hello all I’m a 23yo male from WI who is interested in purchasing a Handgun. I have never fired or even held a (real) handgun but I have used other firearms (mostly rifles). So as a first time buyer I have afew questions thats Firearm sites cant answer. So here I go.

Q1: What is a good “overall” handgun that comes to mind?

Im looking for a handgun I can use for everything. From protection, hunting protection, maybe even hunt with, conseal and carry, keep with me in a car (for protection), shoot at targets, ect. Just a good all rounder, I’m NOT looking for a specefic field to use it in.

Q2: Whats a good caliber that has good power but not alot of Recoil?

I heard from others that have a Handgun that 9mm is a good “overall” caliber for my interests. But as I have not fired one I am unsure.

Lastly:
- I want a HG that has the safty on the side of the gun not in the trigger (as in no Glocks).
- I want a Magazine fed HG no revolver types
- If possable the trigger to be a slide trigger rather than a typical trigger you see on most guns. (Not sure the name of trigger types)

Any other tips and info appreciated.

My thoughts on some to at least try out would be the Star Model B & BM, the CZ 52, Llama brand firearms were born in Spain over 100 years ago but today now reside in the Philippines**.
Llama can be found in .380 on up to .45acp.
In 9mm some that come to mind, they are old but decent and wont break the bank, also they work.
If I were to buy a new 9mm Id most likely buy a S&W M&P Shield which recently had decent reviews if I wanted new and mfg in USA.
If I wanted a good 9mm Id settle on the CZ 75.

My first 9mm was a 8 shot Helwan Brigadier 951 was a Egyptian made copy of the Baretta model 1952, it was a decent first but not quite as nice as the Star model B/BM or CZ 52.

To the OP: What you are describing is a 9mm 1911. They have the "slide trigger", can be had in either 9mm or .45, have a side safety and take magazines. The full size ones are pretty heavy but have the lightest recoil. They can be had in shorter barreled models with aluminum rails that are much lighter. Magnum Research, Smith & Wesson, Sig, Ruger, RIA, Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Remington, etc. all make nice ones. If you are on a budget RIA makes some very respectful models in the $400 range. I personally like Colt but that is just my humble opinion.

That "no revolver " thing just knocked you out of owning one of the best do everything all around versatile hanguns ever made.... a K frame 357 Magnum , 3 inch barrel and round butt will be concealable and still have enough barrel length for range or field shooting...What a Shame .
Let me tell you a little secrete...semi auto's are not the be all , do all , absolute best handguns ever made...their are other considerations .
