about once every 100 rds I will get an extraction failure.
This happens both with brass ( CCI Blazer) and Steel (TulaAmmo)

Both of course are economy rounds.. but still..
Anyone else have this issue?

........... an extraction failure.

?

Happened to the best of us, but they eventually grow up and move away.
Happened to me twice. Lucas is 14 years old and Nicholas is now 17 years old now.

I don't have an M&P 9, but have the .40. I have not had any extraction issues from it. I'm guessing you have already done the obvious things like inspect the extractor for burrs, damage, and good tension and travel. Have you bothered to remove the extractor and clean out the extractor groove and inspect the spring and clean out the spring pocket?

Had you removed the extractor prior to having issues, where you may have gotten the spring bound up or causd any additional drag on the extractor?
Has the barrel been soaked in some good carbon solvent? Sometimes steel casedcammo gets some good blow-by of carbon onto the chamber walls which can cause extraction issues.

That's most of the troubleshooting I can think of.

SSGN.. No I been kinda lazy w/ it.
Since it appears not to be a system problem ( or I would get a lot of "Yes" responses) I will have to put in some elbow grease.

Its getting a real good cleaning today.

I admit I usually just give it an operator clean/lube.

But I gave it a depot level cleaning today to include scraping the inside from the extractor clear from gunk (there was some)

After installing SW improved extractor problem ahs actually worsened.

On the range today (admittedly firing economy steel ammo but this should not matter a world class gun should be able to reliably fire any ammo thats not outright defective) got a extraction failure every mag in the beginning.

Then one every other mag
by end of day ( after 450 rds ) dropped to 1 in 3 mags.. Still too high
At this rate I need to spend a grand or two in Ammo to get it down to 1 failue in 1000 (which would be good enough for my purpose)

Never had an issue with CCI, but, remember, unless you are
micrometer'ing every round to check it when using cheap stuff...
chances are some out-of-spec rounds will slip in.

Cheap Range Ammo is Range Ammo for a reason.
