SMITH & WESSON model 63 4 inch pin barrel, adjustable rear sight, since it's a .22LR, not really good for self-defense, 4 inch barrel not really a target gun or hunting gun, what's this gun's purpose ??????

Mine spends most of its time on a shelf in the kitchen cupboards, but it's always in my tackle box when I'm fishing. To me, it's just a fun little plinker to have along for when the fish aren't biting. Me, my buddies, my wife and my kids have put hundreds upon hundreds of rounds through that little .22 at impromptu targets.
I might have killed a rabbit or two in the garden with my Model 63. I really can't remember; I've had the gun a long, long time. The only serious thing I can definitely remember using it for was one morning as we were leaving for town, we spotted our old cat dragging himself across the field beside our house. He'd been ran over, and his whole back end was crushed. I ran inside, grabbed that little revolver out of the cupboard, and ended our cat's misery with a bullet in the back of his head.
Kit gun more or less. I have a couple .22 handguns I like to have with me at the farm. Sometimes plinking is fun, other times you may sight a sick ****, other times the rats are roaming too freely. Just can justify whipping out the Glock 26, kind of loud and I do have a few neighbors out that way so out of respect I use the .22
Handle a kit gun, fire a couple of cylinders full, wipe it down and look closely at the workmanship and you will answer your own question.
