it's a knee jerk reaction and doesn't serve any other purpose than to sensationalize the recent school shooting in Florida. it's a symbolic gesture on his part to garner sympathy for what has happened. nothing more.
so what? he destroyed one gun. yep, that's going to change things in a big way. not. and the underlying message? his thought process maybe, that he's a gun owner, and he supports more gun control laws, or measures to further restrict certain types of firearms. and if he believes in such things, then he just doesn't have a clue.
this type of drama is so easy to "one up" that it doesn't even require a functioning brain to defeat it.
easy....
first, tell any youtube gun rights activist to do some quick research on fbi crime stats. or give it to them, its easy to find.
next, have them RESPOND to this video by sawing in half anything that takes more lives yearly (or in last 10 years) than an AR-15 in their video. that will easily show anyone with half a brain the idiocy of sawing a specific gun in half that causes less death than ladders, knives, over the counter pharmaceuticals, poisoning chemicals, and don't even get us started on alcohol, drugs, and motor vehicles.
saw em all in half....i bet you could make a 30 minute video vs a 2 minute one.
His gun, his right to destroy in on social media.
But he created an SBR with the first cut...........which makes him a criminal.
Of course his lawyer will say that the later cut, through the receiver showed intent.
So how long can a person leave a rifle in SBR form?
Supposedly a gun owner, even had some crappy tattoo of the 2A...........and living in NY............and he doesn't know the law?
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
He cut up his rifle for a couple of reasons.
1. He's not mentally stable enough to own a gun and knows it (why liberals fear guns..........they know how F'd up they are).
2. He wanted his 15 mins of social media fame
3. His wife wears the pants in the family and ordered him to do it
4. He wanted to blow a few K on legal.
5. Bloomberg is his idol.

Indeed. But he can't break federal law doing it. He did cut the receiver in half.........and the BATF proly has a deal on how to legally destroy a firearm (what needs cut)..............but he cut the bbl below 16" first.............and that made it an SBR.
Even if temporary...........it was an SBR. Nail him.
Some arsehat on another forum said the bbl cut by saw would be unsafe, the gas tube being cut made the gun non functional.....as if that made the way the guy did it OK. What a dumbarse. It made it a single shot.....and proly an inaccurate one. The bbl was cut.........proly as well as some Bubba work I've seen LOL.
Randy Weaver cut two shotguns a little short........one an H&R...........and you saw what happened there. Mentioned this at work to some younger gun guys.................they had never heard of Ruby Ridge.

Believe it or not Hook, we do exist, even after several of us moved out of that other country.
I know plenty gun owners who still live in NY (And I question their sanity each and every time I talk with them. Especially the ones I know that live in NYC.)
Yes it is his right to do that but it accomplished ZERO!
And it was a Colt SP-1 What a shame since today it is basically a collector for those collecting. But I would offer to buy the back half since he only sawed the barrel off!. And reality, it would be capable of firing one round at a time as it is! So IMO =Idiot! I can't help but thinking when his emotions calms down he will have second thoughts about what he did? I certainly am also upset about the waste of young lives. God Bless them and their families. There is not one thing that is going to "attempt" this from happening again since we know those who are disposed to commit violent acts are going to find a means. But I think there are a lot of things that can and should be done. Like securing the schools, teachers well trained with guns. I am sure if the Coach would have had one he would not have been afraid to defend himself and the students. TO me he just seemed like that type a guy. But instead was just another Fish in the Bucket! But this display accomplished nothing but frustration. And I can understand the frustration. I only think if it were my kids or family.
Just make sure you have a couple good fake PO boxes first. Doing so would be in violation of the Unsafe Act, so my guess is, when the liquor wore off, he really felt like an @$$.
After all, there is no way he can replace it under the laws there.
And yes, if you did ship one to him for sale, you would also be in hot water, as federal law says the sale must be legal in BOTH jurisdictions when shipping a firearm to another state.
And, it don't even matter if it's a lowly M&P22, as they are also banned there, with the exception of having a fixed magazine.
BTW. Has anyone found the video yet?
If not, here it is, but it could also be faked, as it is on CNN, and he said something about selling it, which he couldn't do as a NYer, unless it was out of state.
And Hippies burned their draft cards, girls burned their bras (now THAT was ok by me).
One difference is that in the 60's, for that bozo to get attention he'd have to arrange a TV crew to film, station to air, newspaper to print, etc. Today, all that's needed is a cellphone. Ho Hum. There'll be more, perhaps different, but more coming ....
Well, we should get someone to saw a cheeseburger in two, and a pack of cigarettes, followed by a swimming pool, (simulated, of course), and then perhaps a box of rat poison? Ludicrous, of course, but no dumber than what they are doing, and proving a bigger point.
He's not the first (and won't be the last) attention whore who wants to get on the evening news. We have to have sympathy for anyone who is that desperate for some respect....from other morons like himself.
honestly, and no offense, but i really could care less about the SBR thing. he obviously wasn't making it with that purpose. and while it would be somewhat entertaining to see him prosecuted for it, it would also sadly just highlight another ludicrous, insensible gun law.
the issue that irks me is that on one side of our political extreme, this is worth of putting on a major news outlet and celebrated as "a step forward?"
does anyone who support this care about facts and statistics at all? does anyone who supports this truly think taking the AR off the market will stop or even reduce mass shooting?
and would the same people believe taking crown royal out of the hands of drunken drivers will reduce drunken driven accidents and deaths?
the problem is, whether its the extreme right OR extreme left.....the least logical and most radical people are always grabbing the headlines in this country, day after day.
I saw the video yesterday. Can't wait to see his home burglarized by a group of young thuggaz. Because that's what's going to happen next. Mark my words.
If this is the one I saw he did not 'cut his gun in half'. He simply cut the barrel off. On this platform, AR-15, all you need to put it back in service is a barrel, hand guard, and gas tube.
If one is to go on video to proclaim superior responsibility.........proly ought to follow the law. With NY being more restrictive, I would expect those there to be paying a little more attention to the legal stuff. As for judgement...........leave the religious crap out of it.
His statement was stupid. I don't give a flip about the rifle.
I do have a problem when somebody tries to throw a bunch of us under the bus while breaking federal law (on camera no less).
If he'd just cut his receiver in half I'd have let it go as a social media stunt, by somebody not smart or stable enough to own a gun.
Oh no. I wasn't questioning the video, I was referring to your editorial comments about the man. I was curious to find out if you knew the man well enough to be able to judge him so unfavorably.
I consider the quote from the bible a historic reference and a bit of good philosophy. And, no, I will not knock off Jesus.
So, in effect, you judged the man who cut the rifle, and I judged you for your comments about the man. Is there a foul there, or are you just opposed to the bible? I thought you would get the reference, I won't overestimate your ability to grasp a subtle message again.
I'm not arguing if NFA laws are proper or not.
They are however the law........and pretty well established.
And a superior ethic/responsible gun owner should know at least the basic ones.
If one feels sorry for the video guy so be it.
If one wants to defend his breaking the law and acting like a moron, so be it.
To attack me for passing along the info...........
That video guy is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Liberals that say "I shoot and hunt but see no need for semi automatic".........that's a game some lefties try to pull off by claiming "moderate".
The truly stupid might believe in such Fuddism.......but I strongly suspect the majority to be of sinister type.
