President Trump wants bump stocks banned.

President Trump said Tuesday that he was directing the U.S. Justice Department to ban equipment like the deadly bump stock device that a gunman used to kill 58 people last year at a Las Vegas concert.

“I signed a memorandum directing the attorney general to propose regulations to ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns,” Trump said during a White House ceremony honoring public safety officers.

Bump stocks should be banned. There are classifications of firearms. You aren't allowed to alter them to make them full auto and the bump stock is close enough to be included into that legislation. If you want a full auto, get the paperwork, pay for your permit and buy one. This in no brainer. It's a a small concession that will affect few gun owners. And getting on the bandwagon because you think it's circumventing the 2nd amendment is crazy. Zealots always ruin it for the majority because they can't understand what it means to cooperate and make concessions for what is important. Nobody is trying to take our guns.

Yeah they are. Have been for near a hundred years. One bite at a time.

Trump just proved what slot of us feared. He's as anti gun as the rest. He just made a move Obama wasn't ballsy enough to make.
They already have taken whole classes of guns with no authority to do so.

Keep right on believing total disarmament isn't the goal even as its slapping you in the face and has for years.

The account I read in Ammoland.com said all parts. What is the actual language?
The gun used in a was a semi auto and there were calls to ban all semi autos by some.
The Hughes Amendment which banned ownership of any full auto weapons produced after 1986 did not pass. There was not a quariom and those there were leaving. A voice vote was held, illegally, and it failed. I don't remember the Back Congressman's name, declared it passed, gaveled the session closed, and had it put on the register as passed. My Congressman at the time told us this. But the some on other side, wanted it too but would not vote on it or for it.
We have a lot of turn coats in DC.
Our then Senator, a Republican, supposedly pro 2a, tried to get another Senator to introduce a ban on .50 ca guns as he did not want it known he supported such a ban.
Next IT WILL BE semi auto rifles and handguns since the Left is running the show, and high capacity magazines.
Trump said last year it was time to address gun control.
This was just the opening shot.
The mass murderer in Vegas who used a bump stock, was a govt contract employee ferrying arms and?? south of the border.
He was not the only shooter, it is apparent from the same accounts from numerous attendees, the seizing and erasing of many attendees' cell cameras and cameras, and all the brass at different locations.
This obviously was used as the excuse, along with the Florida Shooter, as the Let does know semi auto from full auto.
It is quite clear, though I formerly discounted such reports, that there was collusion, obstruction, and destruction, of evidence, in Vegas.
Was it a false flag where the shooter sacraficed himself since he was critically ill?
to further the anti 2 Amendment assault.

For slot of us Trump just wrote his own history as a one term president with this move.
I voted for him as did alot of my friends here and in other states.
We will never vote for him again after this.
So you will vote for someone who opposes ALL of your ideals to keep from voting for someone that opposes ONE of your ideals?

Remember this guys. It still has to go through Congress for it to happen. So, maybe instead of d@mning Trump, you might want to make your feelings on this known with the folks that can keep such a Bill off his desk instead.

And FYI, the POTUS is not supposed to be totally one sided, but instead to try his or her best to do what is in the best interests of the Nation he presides over.

no matter what, someone is going to get what they want, and someone won't. Let's see where this goes before passing judgement, and try putting our self in his shoes, hard line mantra aside, and ask what we would do.

I am sure he did not come to this conclusion lightly, nor would many of us on here, in his shoes.

And no, I do not support such a ban, and emails have already been sent out, as well as signing the petition against any such ban.

Have done that. There will be no new state gun regs in KY . Even after our recent school shooting.
Gov did what Trump should have done. Promised to veto any gun restriction.

Fed side I wrote and called.
But win lose or draw Trump called for this and nothing will change that.

One term and gone if alot of us who put him in there can kick him out.
Trump just damned himself and any RINO who sides with him on this.

#16 ·
Nope. Or any other gun regulation.
And though I voted for Trump last time I'll never be talked into that again
I'm far from the only one.

He and his rino buds talking up new gun regs just bought a ticket out of office.
If they are no better than anti dems, who needs em.

At least with outing the open antis you see them coming.
Not have your house set ablaze from inside.

more and more talk of more gun control laws, restrictions and bans is coming. and i fear after the recent events in Florida, with these teenage students being gunned down, is going to possibly give them the traction they are looking for to push ahead with more gun legislation.

i understand, people are hurting, they are angry, and they are feeling like something needs to change. i feel much the same, but common sense and past history prove that more restrictive gun control laws are not the answer, and will not prevent this from happening again, and again. even during the Federal AWB of 1994-2004 did nothing to stop or deter mass killings. magazine limits will not stop this from happening again. the only people it limits or penalizes are law abiding gun owners, and not the criminals, or the mentally ill who acquire guns for evil deeds.

Despite my previous post, I am not in favor of banning anything. However, we are losing ground rapidly on this issue and I believe bump stocks and binary triggers are a thing of the past.

No new law would have changed what happened at the school shooting, none of the devices
above were used yet they are the first things on the ban list. The public at large feels the need to do something even if it's wrong!

The fact that the police were called to the perps home 38 times over a two year period, the fact that he publicly stated he wanted to shoot them, the fact that he posted on public media that his desire was to be a "professional school shooter", none of these things were enough to prevent him from acquiring a semi-automatic rifle.

Where was the FBI when alerted of this lunatics post?

It matters not what we gun owners think the Constitution says. We do not rule on the constitutionality of gun laws. That's the job of the federal courts.

Read the Heller decision.
Heller guns in common use.

COTUS never empowered SCOTUS to do any such thing.
They took that for themselves. Years later .

Eventually maybe not in my lifetime but definitely in my son and daughter 's it WILL matter what gun owners think because they will be forced to defend their RTKABA.

In my personal opinion,I could care less if Bumpfire stocks and the Binary trigger's get banned.
They serve absolutely No Hunting/Sporting/or Self Defensive purpose. The makers of them found a slim grey area of the written law,and took advantage of it.
I've shot weapons with these types of items, and other than wasting a bunch of ammo, and having a few seconds of fun, they serve no purpose.

I get it,Everyone likes Machine Guns! And,it's impossible for 99% of people to afford a real machine gun. But,Then they find a way to manufacture these items in a "legal" (very grey area of the way the laws are written),and now the average Joe can operate a Semi-auto firearm at an increased firing rate.

Guy's need to look at this with common sense.
If you really want to shoot a machine gun, there are plenty of Machine Gun Shoots held all over the country several times a year. Take a pocket full of money, and guy's will let you shoot almost anything you can imagine.

That's just my opinion.

Not the point.
I don't even own an AR.

However, Trump nor Congress has the authority to ban anything concerning guns to begin with.

This is just another slice at the RTKABA. Fully intended and mostly manufactured before Trump was elected but fully supported by him.

This drive for gun regs has nothing to do with bump stocks and everything to do with reducing us to shotguns and six shooters.

Today's reports are that Trump said he ha not taken banning Assault Rifles off the table.....and talked about selling Federal Properties to pay or his Infrastructure Plan, instead of a gas tax.
To raise those kinds, of numbers, he is talking about selling National Parks and National Forests, National Seashores and drilling and mining in the same, like he did in our Artic. This is what the "Business of Government is Business" lobby has been after for decades. His Director is on record loud and clear about Privatizing our National Parks and Forests and BM etc lands.
As far as assault weapons it seems the majority o my firearms are semi auto and all but two have removable magazines. Most are .22s but I have some .308s .30-06s, and 7.62x39s and .22magnums and a bunch I haven't fired since the seventies, not to mention semi auto pistols. Have you tried a rubber band trick on a Hi Power or Colt 1911 with holes in the trigger???
I it gets down to it my revolvers with old stye firing pin on the nose, just make a loose bushing, add some cylinder end play, and mid hammer springs.

It's not your disagreeing that is irrational. It's expecting the 2nd amendment to be unrestricted in any way, shape or form that is a delusional thought process.
And quit with the "happy to give until there is nothing left" bullsh*t. Don't make your argument on what you believe I think. Without sensible restrictions or gun laws the 2nd amendment means absolutely nothing. I should have realized by now that when you get involved in a discussion it always goes the same radical way. OK....now have the last word.

Really need to read the 2a again.

Nowhere does it give authority to anyone to infringe /interfere with the peoples RTKABA. Not even a hint of that.

And no judge on ANY court, not lawmaker anywhere. has ever or will ever be able to point to anything in the COTUS or BOR that gave them that authority without making something up out of thin air that isn't in it.

That is a fact.

A Amendment guaranteeing there will be no gun regulations at all means nothing without the very regulations it prohibits?

Really?

If all of this "ban this, ban that" craze keeps going, the USA might turn into a UK #2. England started with the carbines, then the rifles, pistols, knives, and good Englishmen now have dildos to protect their lives, families, property and valuables.
