I'm sure the guy who sold me my PT111 G2 9mm told me, but I'm not clear on how the trigger works. Sometimes there is a firm pull and sometimes you pull almost all the way with no resistance before the gun fires. Is this normal, or is something wrong with my gun? I also get at least one, sometimes 2 or 3 misfires per clip of 10. What's up with that?

I have one and it has a sa/da trigger. It even says so in the manual that comes with it which nobody reads. A quick test to be certain is to take the mag out, rack the slide, dry fire the weapon (which you will notice its a single action pull), then dry fire it again. On the second dry fire is where you will see the double action trigger pull. Also there are a couple different models of the g2. Mine (the compact model) does not have a decocking lever to put it in double action mode for the first trigger pull but the full size version does.

IMO, Taurus mis-labeled the 24/7 Pro DS, Millennium Pro and Millennium G2 as SA/DA. As Pasquanel said, these pistols in fact are in SA always unless when there is a misfired round, the trigger would switch to DA for the second strike and then the trigger would return to SA once the misfired round is cleared. On the 24/7 Pro DS/Pro C DS pistols, you can decock the gun to make the 1st shot DA thanks to the decocker safety.

On the other hand, the 24/7 G2 pistols are true DA/SA, 1st shot DA then the rest will be in SA unless there is a misfired round, the trigger would switch to DA for the 2nd strike and after the misfired round is cleared, the trigger would switch back to SA.

Edit: The 24/7 Pro/Pro C DS and 24/7 G2 guns have the cocking indicator to help us easily tell when the trigger is in SA and when it's in DA. On the Millennium guns, because they don't have the cocking indicator, we have to feel the long trigger pull of the DA trigger.

I had a PT111 about 8 years ago. I bought it new. I used it for a concealed carry class. It gave me trouble from the start. Light strikes and misfires. It started as a once in a while problem. After a few hundred rounds it misfired more than it fired. I returned it to where I purchased it. They let me purchase a Ruger after giving me a refund. That was my second bad Taurus. I have not bought another.

i just purchased a PT111 G2, but I am going to order a stainless steel guide rod before firing. Like the Glock, the original flexes.
I have a couple of G2s as well. thousands of rounds thru one of them.
In the beginning it would ahve some feeding issue when reloading a mag on an locked back slide..
Thats been disappearing with breakin and now only happens 1 in 6 times.

Rick Not the same pistol when compared to the G2 version . Clean your mags when you clean your pistols and change the springs on occasional . We do were out too . Some failures to chamber or fire can be low quality ammo that avalitlble today . WWB can be good ammo or junk depending as much on lot number as anything .

If your having 1 in 6 failures still using good ammo spend in homes for some TLC . My daughters pt111g2 is at around 2500 rounds and has been 100% reliable from the first round fired . Only reloads and premium HP are used .

my 1 in 6 was when putting in anew fresh mag on an empty slide.
And it cna be 100% prevented by hold the gun sideways a bit.
Its more common with aftermarket mags.

But I needed to mention it for completeness sake.
I do use the guns fairly hard with a lot of rounds per session..

The reload problem (failure to chamber new round when reloading a fresh mag into an empty gun w/ a locked back slide) is more rare now.

This is the only issue I ever had.
I own 5 of these pistols now and my 2 shooters between them had probably 3000-4000 rds thru them
