Yes that may no totally stop the sound of the Bolt function. But one should always properly lubricate the AR rifle or any other gun for that matter. I know that your 22-AR is totally different than the normal AR-15 design in 223/5.56. And it is even more critical the AR-15 is properly lubricated and especially the Bolt Carrier Group.
*It should look wet! That is one of the major issues with the AR-15 in 223/5.56 is guys letting them get dry or not lubricating them properly at the start! But with the 22 ARs you also have to remember the pressure is much lower with the 22 cal. and the Bolt cyclic rate is much slower which can create the sound. But the bottom line the Bolt even on the 22 should also look damp/wet. And the "Sheen" from the lube should be visible in the light.
It was driving me crazy. It was pretty dirty. I like how easy it was to take down. My Mossburgs are a lot more work to take down. I got the gun in a trade for my Hi-point c-9. So not sure how often it was cleaned before,
Thread triggered a deja vu giggle- remembered the first time I fired an M16. Had been firing and had qualified with an M14, was picked for the transition course. Been used to a 7.62 NATO rifle with a wooden stock. Somehow that aluminum and plastic rifle just did not feel real.
Got snuggled down good in the prone position, snapped off the safety, squeezed trigger, and got a bang SPROING. Bang SPROING. Buffer spring right under my cheek. M14 has no buffer- but every shot I got a cartoon like SPROING when the rifle fired. Got the giggles.
BTW, it is NEVER a good idea to get an uncontrollable case of giggles in the presence of a Drill Instructor.
I could hear my 1100 magnum cycling through the wood stock when shooting geese.
Yup, them honking, coming in, the magnum loads blasting and hearing the clunker 1100 through my cheekbone. It was odd.
Eventually I got used to it.
Maybe once in a while kinda notice it on doves.
But on a few early goose trips it was kinda funky LOL
