They may have less shootings, but there are definitely more and more bombings etc by radical groups in Europe. Why? Debatable, tougher gun laws? Easier immigration? Tough to say.
Here is an interesting link on what the Netherlands are up to. Not in anyway related to this topic except that it is in the Netherlands.
In reply to JTJ....can figure out how to quote on the new format quite yet..
Can you prove that? Not trying to stir things up, but as I was scrolling through the FB feed it had a debunked theory about that. I thought well. maybe that is not correct?
Like I said not trying to stir stuff, I just wish I had a credible source so I could lash back with that on FB.

simple fact is, they pass restrictive gun control laws to make people feel safer.
criminals don't care about the laws, that's why they are criminals. gun control laws only penalize law abiding gun owners.
now if they wanted to pass stricter sentencing penalties for criminals who commit crimes when using a gun, then fine.
we have plenty of enough laws, but what we need is for them to be enforced, and for them to use the sentencing enhancements when guns are used in criminal act. even if a felon isn't in the actually involved in criminal act at the time, but are in possession of a firearm, they should throw the book at them. that in itself is one area where they could pass stricter sentencing guidelines.
part of the problem that i feel is at fault are that criminals are not in fear of the penal or judicial systems if they are caught. they know that more than likely they will get to plea to a lesser charge at a reduced sentence, and then with some good time, only serve about a third, to half of that sentence. that right there is huge part of the problem.
I travel to Europe a good bit for work. Been to Amsterdam and Zaandam four times over the past year and I’m going back again at the end of this month (I’ll post pictures. I’d be able to do it easier if the iPhone app was working… cough… cough…).
Their gun crime is lower, but their violent crime (stabbings, beatings, general hooliganism) isn’t any lower than that of the US and in many regions it is FAR HIGHER. To get a gun over there you have to meet with a range master several times at the shop, at your home, have dinner with them, they meet the folks in your home, and “if” you are permitted to “own” a fire arm, you can only shoot it at the range and it stays locked up at the range. It’s not really yours but you’ll pay out the rear to be granted the privilege say that it is.
I have a printer, vinyl cutter, and a heat press so I can make my own shirts pretty easily. I always make it a point take a few gun related shirts when I travel there. I always get questions and most folks shun the idea of or the “need” to own a gun. Funny thing is though, whenever my counterparts travel from Europe to the US and we entertain them for a week; at least one night is spent at a shooting range AT THEIR REQUEST and they have a freaken ball. They love it.
They enjoy their social norms quite comfortably. But they enjoy ours a hell of a lot more. I promise you. They also admit that if a disaster hit, they are at the mercy of their government to ensure that they have food and are safe. We don't have to say the same.
Below are some Dutch visitors that previously talked about their dislike for firearms.
Are you all aware that the term 'gun control' is a the term adopted by the anti gun people to make the term 'anti' go away becasue it sounds negative??? So when you are using 'gun control' rather than 'anti gun' term you are furthering their agenda by allowing them to control the narrative???? Just like the 'assault weapon' issue, but less obvious.
Jester: The irony is so true.
We have had visitors, mostly female, from Austria and they have not been interested in shooting except for an Austrian police officer. I used to have a pass to an indoor range and used it frequently. There were a lot of foreign shooters using a pistol for the 1st time. The guys renting the guns should go back with them and show them how to operate the firearms but they usually dont if they are busy. I stopped several of them before they got slide cuts. They do send someone back with anyone who rents a full auto.
So what? Who cares if they're 'x times safer' my great grandad, and THEN my grand dad had to travel over to Europe to help straighten their **** out, because the people there handed their guns in.

I think about all the private American guns that were loaned to England and were never repatriated. Most were destroyed by the British Government. Thanks a lot.
The 'wild children' of Europe that came to America still had common sense and intelligence. Remove the Democrat plantations from the equation and you'll see where the problems are.
In general, the average amount of shootings/killings with firearms between the US and European Countries are nearly identical, taking the percentage of killings per 100.000 people.
Then taking, that mostof the killings are done by using illegal firearms, in the US aswell as in European Countries, tougher gun laws don`t realy help the situation.
2015 hat several people killed in France and Belgium by IS Terrorists
2016 had several pepole killed in Berlin by IS Terrorists
2016 had a shoping mall shooting killing, I think it was 9 people or so, using a deaktivated theater gun, bought illegaly over the darknet.
The european commission toughend the laws for deactivating firearms and converting firearms from fullauto to semiauto in 2013.
T´Some of the firearms used in 2015 by IS Terrorists had been former converted or deactivated AKs.
The theater gun (Glock 17) used in Munich in 2016 was deactivted in 2014.....si European Commission didn´t enforce the deactivation rules so the Glock and other firearms could easily be reactivated and used for killing people.
Taking in consideration, at least in germany, the amount of killing done with legal firearms are near zero per year on average, what does gun control do?
It will be pretty much the same in nearly all european countries aswell as in the US.
You will not prevent gun crime by toughening the laws for law abiding people.
Want a fair comparison? Compare demographics and average income to the crime rate. Your fair comparison is now comparing Vermont to the Netherlands.
Bernie Sanders style socialism works in Vermont, and in the Netherlands.
