Is the rock river AR the best for the price?

Man, that is a loaded question that can be debated in great length by all the AR experts. That's like saying "is Ford the best car for the money?". The Ford people will think so.

For the record I have a Rock River AR and I think it's great. While it's fairly new, it's been very reliable and accurate for me so far. I did the research on the other brands and for my rather tight budget I felt it gave me the best quality for the money.

For what use? If a very accurate rifle for bench time or hunting RRA is one of the best for the money with there varment rifles. If all you want is a range fun gun or basic ar/m4 for light duty hunting then PSA, S&W sport, RRA most basic rifle & colt . Dollars start to climb to higher levels. prices start around 600 dollars for psa and s&w. Others will give advise soon.

With all the different AR configurations available, both from RRA and from other manufacturers, you are going to need to narrow down the field a little to get a better answer.

Yes, RRA makes fine rifles, but so do others. What $$ are we talking about? AR15 or another caliber? varmint/rifle/carbine? What is the intended use - plinking/hunting/distance?

A friend was telling me about the AR15. I thought it sounded like a fun gun to play with. Definitely not going to be hunting with it. I have my set guns that I hunt with. He said he just purchased a rock river AR for $729. I have found a couple other brands around the $600 range. Im just wondering if I would be better off spending the extra hundred.

Sounds like you're wanting an AR to plink w/. In that case and in your $600 price range a S&W Sport would work.

At $700+ Spikes makes a nice AR as does PSA.

Why not buy the S&W M&P15-22. Only about $400 and very cheap ammo. Lots of fun.

or get an ar and buy a .22 adapter, you'll have the best of all worlds.
