You won't be able to find reasonably priced .22lr either, keep the AR!

I have both & right now can't afford to waste the ammo rather than can't afford to buy the bullets. Have you noticed the "bare" shelves in your area

i wouldnt sell it if you like it. you might end up needing it fore long....

might look at reloadng. but unless you been saving brass, brass for just about everything is hard to find atm.

i reload and have components for several thousands of rounds of various types but im not shooting anything but cast bullets atm. simply cuz i cant easily replace jacketed bullets.

at some point supply will catch up and when the smoke clears ban wise all the ammo hoarders will start off loading ammo at reduced prices

This is what I did. Go online, or to your local gun store, CMMG makes a 22lr conversion for 223/556 ar15 rifles. All it is, is the bolt group and a mag. You take your standard 223 bolt group out and slap in the 22lr bolt and boom. You have an ar that shoots 22lr and 223. It's perfect to save your 223 but still get the fun of shooting your ar. And the 22lr ammo is a lot cheaper than 223/556. Look on YouTube. CMMG 22lr conversion kit for ar15. It was a great investment for me. Some may disagree.

Definitely get a conversion kit. If this media bashing gets worse (and I think that most of us think it will) you won't be able to pick up another one for less than $1k.

Get that kit, buy a big bucket of .22 lr, and try to enjoy yourself.

This is your first AR. Do you know how much 223 5.56 costed before Obama got the Democratic nomination? On the whole sale side, about half what it costs now, actually less. On the retail side about 1/5th as much as it costs now. (Whole sale prices haven't risen as much as retail prices have). If we ever get a firearm friendly government again I expect ammo prices to drop significantly.

Set yourself on a budget to make sure you don't lose your skills with the platform and wait it out. EVERYONE has said that 223 is too expensive to shoot and has taken out their 22LR's and now you can't even get 22LR ammo anymore.

Even reloading, components are in very short supply. Lots of people took up reloading as the ammo shortage began.

Keep the AR and wait out this storm.

What he said. Try to get the conversion kit for now and just plink with the 22, but keep your ar man. It wouldn't be smart to get rid of it. Especially in the ****hole us gun lovers are in. Just stock up on as much 223/556 as you can and shoot 22 with the conversion on your platform. You'll have the best of both worlds in the long run.
