    I'm getting ready to purchase another CCW, and I would appreciate suggestions. I know what I want, but I'd hate to pass up a good gun because I didn't think about it before I make my purchase. I'm looking for something fairly compact in at least 9mm. Weight and length are not issues, but I would like to keep the height to a minimum. I want something with a hammer and a SA/DA trigger with a decocker so I can carry with one in the chamber, safety off, and a double action first trigger pull. Price is an issue, but I'm not ruling anything out based on MSRP, since I'm willing to be patient and do a little wheeling and dealing to get the gun I really want. So far I'm looking at the beretta px4 storm compact, the bersa thunder UC, and the CZ 75 compact. Any other suggestions?

    Bersa. Available in compact 9mm (13+1), hi-capacity 9mm (17+1), compact .40S&W (10+1), hi-capacity .40S&W (13+1) & compact .45ACP (7+1). Price range $400-$450 & if you find a good deal, maybe less. The 9mm's & .45s are getting the rep for being Bersa's best.

    Just picked on of these up in 9mm today. I haven't shot it yet but I like how it feels and the trigger is pretty nice as well. I can't wait to shoot it.

    Thanks sonic. The 239 is just what I'm looking for. Hopefully I can get my hands on a few of the ones on my list at the gun show tomorrow.

    Yeah it's a nice size and very well made. It did cramp my middle finger on the trigger guard which bugged me...but I wanted it as a range gun as well. Look for the CPO's and save a buck.

    I held a p239 today and really like it. There was only one for sale at the show today. It's new, but the guy wanted $790 for it. The Bersa felt good too, but the fit and finish on the Sig was just amazing.

    You know....after I posted that little CZ I thought...why am I not recommending the finest, most comfortable pistol you'll ever wrap your hands around? I used to own one and regret selling it. Just a hair bigger than a P239...but not by much...and a lot more round capacity....http://www.impactguns.com/cz-75-d-p...decocker-black-polycoat-14-rd-mags-01194.aspx

    With these credentials (NATO) tested and approved;

    Reliability: The U.S. Army "Mean Rounds Between Failure" (MRBF) requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols. During testing of the CZ P-01, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired. This is a .05% failure rate or an MRBF of 2142.

    The P-01, CZ 75D PCR are pretty much the same, no rail on the PCR. Great price too...but they are going up every year. People have discovered them.

    what about the Colt Defender or the Springfield Armory EMP? 9mm or 45acp options and both are compact and not too heavy either. just some other suggestions to consider.
