I have a Series 70 Gold Cup 45 that the safety starts to engage when it is fired. I tried to increase the conical cutout where the coil spring plunger contacts the safety. It still does not remain completely off when firing. Should I continue to deepen the cutout? Do I need to replace the safety lever? If the detent is to deep then it becomes difficult to engage. Replace the coil spring?

just curious. is it an amdi safety. and id switch out the safety lever before you do anything thats permanent. sometimes the solution is easier then we expect.

    How new is the gun?
If new, and you are modifying, you could void the warranty.

Have you looked into getting a new spring?

Put your thumb on top of the safety. Leave it there. Fire.

Replace the spring and the safety. Really, unless you're an accomplished gunsmith, don't be trusting your safety mods. That's not real smart man.

Guess I'll try replacing the coil spring first. That's the easiest thing to do.
