My favorite so far is the Sig P238. Locked breech design and very soft shooting for its size...

They aren't cheap but the price has dropped to a more reasonable level in the past few months - under $500 new with night sights. Nothing really good is really cheap - just depends what you're looking for...

my favorite is the bersa thunder 380 i also have the high capacity thunder 380 plus. the thunder plus is the only 15+1 380 on the market. i like it over all the others because it fits my hand really well. its light fast with a really good trigger.

the bersas are the most underated 380's out there.

they are basically a clone of the walther ppk that fixes the issues of the negative issues of the walther. the slide rides a scootch higher than the ppk eliminating the annoying hand scrape you get from older ppks. they greatly improved the trigger making it really easy to shoot in DA mode. they also gave it a take down lever eliminating the clumsy trigger guard takedown.

i woul strongly recomend checking out the thunder series.

Headed to Cabelas today to pick up my new LCP. I was thinking they were a little to cheaply made for me, but I just couldn't pass up the price that it was on sale for. So maybe I'll end up with something different in a few months if I don't like it, and my wife will get the LCP for her purse.

I'll post a range report ASAP.:)

I'll chime in again regarding the 10-rd. ProMag for LCP... I really like it... carry it that way IWB. The extra 4 rds. and the resulting full grip give me comfort.

I can't comment on the others but I do own a LCP that has been 100% reliable. It's not going anywhere but I'm going to eventually replace it with a Kahr PM40 since I have doubts about a .380 doing the job that I want.

I'm gonna look and see if Cabelas has one today. My LGS told me they're bart to get right now, and they are only 6rds anyway. Obviously they just wanted to sell. Me what they had in stock, or are just idiots.

The 10-rd. ProMag is an "after-market" item. Ruger doesn't sell them. I got mine (delivered FedEx) ordering online from cheaperthandirt.com for $22 + shipping. I've ordered lots from them... 100% satisfied.

I had my promag jam and and not feed. they sent me another one and said to only use a good hp bullet (which does best) and said if you go fmj get the federal eagles. the dude said cheaper fmj are not made exact 100% equal.

I really enjoyed my Bersa Thunder 7 rounder, until my sister took it and wouldn't give it back. I like the flat nickel finish. I like the 7 round and 9 round mags. I liked the $300 price tag. I liked the lighter alloy frame.

I did lust after one of those SigSaur 232SL's in the CDNN catalog for $430. CDNN Sports, Inc. 2010-6 Catalog

My opinion is probably not going to be very popular, but I view a .380 as a target pistol only. It is not considered a service caliber and I wouldn't carry one.

You can get a 9mm for almost the same size and carry +p rounds that will offer better ballistic performance and stopping power to a would-be attacker.

I wouldn't want to place my life in the balance with a .380.
