My wife has a Derringer that shoots .22 MAG. Can I shoot these rounds in a .22 bolt action rifle?
No. Don't do it.
The .22 Magnum is larger in diameter than the 22 LR, it is longer, and has about 3 times as much power. It will not fit, and you should not TRY to make it fit.
There are some revolvers that will shoot both- but folks overlook that THOSE have 2 different cylinders.
in case the previous responses are not enough, no!
With responses like this.....
The answer is yes if your rifle is a .22 mag rifle. If it is a .22 LR it don't matter because the mag shells will not fit.
Thanks. Wasn't sure if the diameter of the MAG round was bigger. Thought it may just be a difference in length.
Go with the mag not only are the bigger you get more bang for almost the same buck also consider 22 hornet also.
Not sure you're on the same page, my man...
Just a little bit.
More bang for almost the same buck?
I thought mag. was more expensive. By a good bit too. (.22 mags are extremely fun to shoot)
All you really need to make an informed response is to read the last post, right?
its way more expensive
Hmmmmm... guess that explains my cousin's hesitance to shoot more than 10 when I shoot at his house
It's only slightly less than 9mm. I pay $10-$15 for a box of 50. The CCI stuff is around $11 a box, not that bad.
Tell me where you can get .22 mag for the same price as LR's?
