It's a spin-off from the Colt Trooper and a "budget" version of the Colt Python, the Colt King Cobra is a force to reckon with, even today. My King Cobra is 21 years old and it still shoots as good today as it did back in 1987! Litterally thousands of rounds and it has never mal-functioned.

You just point it at your target and squeeze the trigger... KA-Boooom, six times if needed.

The King Cobra hasn't been made for over 10 years, but they are still readily available. Both new & used, and even available in blue and Stainless Steel.

As wheelguns go, you'd be hard pressed to find a more reliable, harder hitting gun than this .357 Magnum. The BONUS is, you can "practice" using in-expensive 38 Specials, and save a Magnums for those times of need...

For about the price of a "new" inferior grade wheelgun, you can buy a used 95% condition Colt King Cobra... and it will last for several generations to come.

So think about this before you go buying a new brand-x Revolver.

I have had my KC since '91 and it is still my favorite handgun. It is accurate, reliable and it has great style. It is my primary home defense and I use MagSafe 38 Special so I won't kill the neighbors. The recoil is much lighter than the S&W with hot loads and I can nail the black every time.

I have never run across another KC and all my friends love it. When we go to the range they say "Bring the King Cobra". I would never part with this lovely piece, but I have heard it is actually quite rare and the values are increasing. Does anyone know what these guns are worth these days?

Pros: Very accurate, smooth trigger, looks nice!

Cons: I'm not fond of the cylinder release (you pull back instead of pushing forward as you would on a S&W) as it requires either using your left hand or shifting your grip with your right hand, but it's not too bad.

My husband had the fortune to find a 6" barrel King Cobra at a Pawn Shop for $400 in near-perfect condition, probably only fired a couple times. We think they didn't knew what they had.
It shoots very well - it's accurate and very easy on the hands. Even a .357 load feels nice, and I would argue it feels better than a .38! As is common with a Colt, the trigger pull is just wonderful, and the heavy *click* the hammer makes when cocked into single action is more pleasing to the ear than any other revolver I've tried. If you can find one, snatch it up before someone else does - I know we won't ever let go of ours.

    Pros: nice finish. accurate

Cons: cylinder is shorter than a smith

I own a 4'' KC and I would never trade it. Heavy enough (40+ oz.) to shoot hot loads with very little recoil
