In an actual SD situation you will barely have time to present and fire, much less fool around
with hearing protection.I would suggest a class from a professional trainer focused on SD

I live in South Florida ... I carry a S&W M&P 40c in a Rhino OWB holster. I wear shorts and
T-Shirt with that rig A LOT and never had a problem.
