You are right, the cost savings would go a long ways toward paying for a better barrel. But if
the OP was like me, he could shoot and enjoy the factory heavy barrel for a few years, and

I'd just go buy the cheapest/new or used 700 ADL in whatever size action that would work for
your build,and then buy a good aftermarket barrel. Get a good gunsmith to time & true the

You are correct. Dots are faster to pick up, easier on the eye , easier to focus, better in low
light. But you can have a red dot optic AND iron sights for backup. Dot sights, the more
