  • Posted in thread: Mosin Nagant Model 1891/30 - Home defence? on 11/26/2010 at 10:51AM
It is my opinion a shotgun would be the best home defense firearm. I would use number 6 or 7/one half
because I don`t like to shoot through walls.

That's a 1:48 twist not 1:28:D. Caps will be #11. I like CCI best. I used 90 grs. of Pyrodex behind
either a Lee REAL or a maxi ball but both require a short starter. Use real black if you can get it,...

No, it is the Elks fault, our game and fish commission has the White Earp syndrome like a lot of federal
and state employees. That is my opinion. The farmers are on their own yet federal and state mon...

  • Posted in thread: 223 or 243 on 11/20/2010 at 7:38PM
The 223 round is horrible for anything other than a varmint round and will never leave a blood trail to
find a wounder deer unless you have dogs. It makes you a good shot or a wounded deer which you m...

The farmers in North West Arkansas are having problems with the Elk because of destroyed fences and their
eating the hay fields. It is great for hunters but the farmers are having all sorts of problem...

The M1A would be a good choice based on your question. The 7.62 by 51 is a lot more potent round than the
    223. It would fill your assault rifle needs.

  • Posted in thread: The Other Surplus German Gun Thread (P38) on 11/19/2010 at 2:09PM
I really don`t like the P 38 because it has two small recoil springs compared to other pistols having one
large recoil spring. Shotgun News has a P38 in excellent condition for $350 and I believe it h...

  • Posted in thread: Hi power vs Beretta on 11/19/2010 at 2:00PM
I like the high power better because it had a frame mounted safety and is single action. The 40 is the
better round in my opinion but maybe high power`s are made in 40 caliber. I have a Browning high ...

  • Posted in thread: what size ball on 11/19/2010 at 1:54PM
I would use a mini-ball for the 58 caliber. They are rather easy to cast. You could buy a Lee mold from
Midway for about $20. There is a method to making wheel weights softer and it is very simple.pat...

  • Posted in thread: information post, casting on 11/19/2010 at 7:23AM
A friend of mine called me asked why a 200 grain cast bullet was weighing only 160 grains after it was
cast. I replyed the metal might be made from Babot and you could identify it by looking for bulle...
