I am considering purchasing an Olympic AR and have read horror stories in some threads. I would
like any real FIRST-HAND opinions on these rifles, not my brother-in-law's roomate's cousin had
    one and ...

  • Posted in thread: Fixing the .22lr ammo problem on 04-24-2014 at 12:04 AM
The fellow at Walmart told me there were a couple dozen guys there every morning around 2:00
A.M. just waiting for the trucks to unload and buying up all the 22 ammo and then taking it to
    the gun sho...

Looked Chinese, but even the earliest of imported CHICOMs had markings. Bet it was a private
kit-build franken-AK - which is perfectly legal.Does it shoot OK? Else, who cares - always good
    to have a s...

  • Posted in thread: Returned my WASR 10/63 on 11-24-2013 at 05:03 AM
I've sent one WASR on my own back to Cent on my dime with an RMA. Asked nicely if they'd toss
in a few extra mags. Nope. They did fix it however and shipped it to my door, but I live in PA
    so this was...

My basic, unconverted, unloaded, 16" 7.62x39 rifle weighs a bit over 7Lbs. Probably light
weight due to the hollow plastic stock. I have a couple other AKMs - Polish and Romanian WASR
    for example that...

Hope you can get one too. I left my 16" 7.62x39 in the as-imported unconverted "sporty" config
as I like the short rifle-style handling - kinda like what an SKS could have become. Accurate
    as can be.W...

Stamped AKMs just aren't that heavy. Compare that to a WASR or a Polish AKM - not much of a
diff. Then compare to a stamped PolyTech, Yugo, VALMET - big diff due to thicker recvrs. That's
    why shooting...

How much did you get for it?$8K. More than some MG08/15s, less than others. It was a sideplate
gun, so no extra bonus for C&R status....

Thanks for the 'like'. I only hope more people will stand up and be counted. I know gun owners who want nothing to do with the authorities. No one in authority knows they own guns. Smart? Maybe, but they won't help in a political battle.

Yours, Nick
