    Thanks guys I appreciate it! It was my Grandads "personal protection" gun, so has more
    sentimental value than anything. May consider replating it since it has very minimal pitting.

    Yeah, I think I have narrowed it down to a prewar 38/44 HD. It has no model number under the
    crane and is a 5 digit not 6 digit serial which are both indicative of prewar years.
