I live in New Zealand and have shot 200 to 300 red deer with a 243 and have had no trouble.
They are a great little rifle and the good thing is they are reasonbly quiet.

having been a professional deer culler and on venison recovery here in NZ years ago and on the
venison recovery shooting from choppers we used 308 slr's and for my culling Iused a 243 and I
still use ...

peybella, just a word of warning be carefull that the socks dont cause sweating and start rust

Having been a pro deer culler and meat hunter here in NZ,I clean my rifles and shotguns etc
firstly by stripping down the firearm and then wash the bore with hoppes gun solvent and when

I own a savage model 24 in 22/410 and must say it,s a great little combo as i have shot
rabbits, hares and ducks with it and i think one would suit you just fine for what you want to
use it for
