We use everything from 22 magnum's to the 458 SOCOM to harvest them,it all depends on the size
of the hogs we find.You have it so Lucky first time I ever heard of a 458 SOCOM. (google helps)

Hi what distance do you hunt hogs at? Under a hundred yards? Over dogs gets tricky, wouldn't a
slower bigger caliber be better 308/303 less meat damage sure kill, if not hand gun?

In South Africa the minimum calibre is a 243 for buck the 223 is preferred for vermin. 22-250

We have a wild boars, hunted mostly with dogs in thick bush. Once dogs have surrounded pig we
finish it off with either 308 or single slug from a shotgun. Went at 4 am one day after 10
hours hard hunt...
