  Well the 17 is a gen1 and the 34 is a gen3 but is anything different other than the grip
  pattern and can I still swap em out

  The buffer tube is backed out as far as it can go..so? And the bolt carrier still hits it just
  barly scratches but I feel like it will hurt me if I ever try and trade it
