I owned a 442 J frame, sold it, and bought the SP 101. No regrets at all. Because it's a 357, a
3" barrel is a definite. You will have to replace the grips, though, most definitely.

Since a '98 mauser action works fine on my 308 Norma Magnum, it should be fine with a 300
