I would have mentioned the TC bolt guns I learned just yesterday on a competing website that
there has been a recall on all TC bolt action rifles(except the precision hunter) that deals
    with the safet...

Based on my personal experience, albeit limited:30-06s, check out weatherby vanguard and
winchester model 70. I believe both can be had in a 24" barrel in wood or synthetic stocks.
    Both offer improved...

Howa is a very reputable rifle. You will have a difficult time finding criticism posted on a
Howa 1500. The two stage triggers are very good. Mine breaks at around 2.5# from the factory.

You can't go wrong with a Benelli or Beretta.

  • Posted in thread: TC Icon Input on 06-17-2013 at 11:58 PM
I own 2 Icons and I think you are making a very good choice. I really like the factory features
these rifles come with. The Icons are very well built quality products. You can easily spend
    three times...

I've never hunted elk and doubt I ever will. When I bought my first rifle the advice I was
hearing was the 30-06 was the do-all for big game in this country. I'm just a deer hunter. I've
    always purcha...

First deer gun to hunt with was a Winchester model 37, 16 ga., 30 inch barrel, full choke.
First deer kill was buckshot with a SKB model 1300, 12 ga. First rifle kill was a Winchester
    model 70 ranger ...

My Howa varminter heavy barrel .308 uses a 4x12x50 Meopta Meopro that should run you about
$500. It has the #4 reticle, no parallax turret. The comparable Zeiss in my collection is a

  • Posted in thread: need advice on bolt action rifles on 06-13-2013 at 01:21 PM
    1. .308, 30-06, 300 wsm are the only calibers I own. I wanted to consolidate cleaning
accesories, jigs etc. I only hunt deer and felt a 30 caliber round offered the best one-shot
    down-on-the-ground-ri...

  • Posted in thread: Hunting Preferences on 06-12-2013 at 02:02 PM
I own 3 bolt action rifles chambered in .308, the last two have heavy barrels. HB rifles
typically will be offered in a .308. If you still hunt the added weight should not be an issue
    and recoil will ...
