Based on my personal experience, albeit limited:30-06s, check out weatherby vanguard and
winchester model 70. I believe both can be had in a 24" barrel in wood or synthetic stocks.

Howa 1500. The two stage triggers are very good. Mine breaks at around 2.5# from the factory.
