    I install threaded flash hiders/muzzle brakes on Mosins. The felt recoil is significantly less
    than without one one. Makes shooting mine significantly more enjoyable to shoot and I hunt with
    my Mosin ...

    The lead free stuff is generally solid copper or brass. The copper being the most common.
    Hornady and a few other companies have alloys consisting of copper and tin.

    This is usually left in the white, but I would presume that some of the jeweling would show.
    Try jeweling something else and applying blue to it.
