    The obvious answer is a 5", like this 357 Magnum (predecessor to the Model 27) made about 1954,
    5" barrel is the best balanced, best looking and most practical barrel length for the N-framed
    S&Ws. Ot...

    I can second (or third) the recommendation of the Wilderness Instructor belt. Get the 5-stitch
    version as it is the stiffest. I just got a new one at their store that's a bit bigger than the
    other two...
