  Pull the gas plug out and inspect the gas ports. There should be three, but some have four and there's a
  couple with two. Make sure they're clean and free from slag. And if you were unfortunate enough...

  Actually its a remington 1100. They have been made since the 60's so there is a ton of used ones out
  there. Depending on condition or the grade you can find them for anywhere from $300 all the way up ...

  I shoot a beretta al391 for trap and an 1100 for clays. Both have 30" barrels. Depending on what you want
  I would recommend an 1100 for an auto or an 870 for a pump. I would suggest at least a 28" bar...
