    Find a nice used Model 10 Smith and Wesson, which many stores have and you will do fine. Buy a
    lot of relatively inexpensive .38SPL and get a lot of short range practice.

    He may want to try the slightly better .22 magnum. Both Charter Arms and Smith and Wesson make
    snubbies for this round. The short barrels reduce the power a bit, but they are a little faster

    I have shot Tula 9mm out of my Browning Hi-Power and Ruger SR-9 and have have had no jams. It
    needs a little more elbow grease to clean your pistol afterwards. I consider it good practice
    ammo.
